I think one thing that can be done for this tribe is to get a little more specific about what we are pursuing. So this is what I think I would like to ask, and maybe if there is a critical point, something can get going.
What would you like to do in a collective and were are you located?

Re: Check in
05/20From the ZNet website: "The underlying values [of ParEcon] are equity, solidarity, diversity, and participatory self management. The main institutions are workers and consumers councils utilizing self managed decision making, balanced job complexes, remuneration according to effort and sacrifice, and participatory planning."
Mostly I joined the group to learn more about ParEcon. I first heard of it in a class on local economics, but hadn't delved into the ideas. I need to do a little more homework before I go proposing action: for example, at what scale are Albert, Hahnel and others suggesting this happen? What are "job complexes"?
Maybe we could begin with a check-in around "What intrigues you about ParEcon? What do you see as its strengths and weaknesses?" to get us into the material a bit more. Just a thought. -

Re: Check in
05/21Sounds good.
Well, since I haven't answered my own question yet, I will start with that. In information bureau and community oriented place I would like to start. I am in San Franicisco. I still have alot of homework to do myself.
I do seek equality in the work place, and I think the next step in a demoratic society is to have places replace the current capitalist system, especially in regards to corporations, and large businesiss. It's strengh is that if the people involved in it feel a need to fulful soemthing that is often got in the way of profits, they have more liberty to make sacrifices. Also because the workers are involved in the decision making, they have a better understanding of why things need to be done a certain way, and feel that they were part of that decisions.
The weaknesses, I am not as sure of, but they are something that one has to understand, are probably going to be conflicts. This is something I would like to know how it is handled, since that could undermind a non-hierarchal organization.
